DESIGN FOR REAL PEOPLE We want to design for real people, without thinking about particular aesthetic canons, we do not identify with the coldness of the catwalks and the artificial aesthetics of the models, we love REAL PEOPLE
CONNECTION WITH NATURE We like to enjoy Nature, walk through forests, observe plants, trees, listen to the wind...look for beaches and lost corners...we also take it into account as inspiration in our collections and in our lives. We try to use non-toxic prints, fabrics with organic cotton (grown without pesticides), make few garments that last a long time, recycle fabrics, use little transportation of raw materials, etc... Nature is the only truth and it is wonderful, we want to take care of it.
AGAINST FAST FASHION (and against Planned Obsolescence) We want to make clothes that last a long time, that never go out of style and are never the latest fashion...that is, special clothes, with a careful design, good materials, good finishes, details, etc...so that whenever someone uses something from us they know that they are wearing something very special and because we are not in favor of using and throwing away, but rather using and keeping (and using again).
CONNECTION WITH OTHERS We want to communicate with what we do, tell stories, transmit ideas, feelings... and meet people, learn, exchange and that all this can be reflected in a print, a collection, etc...
CONNECTION WITH OUR INSIDE This is very important when you have a company because sometimes you dedicate so much time to it that you forget about yourself, why you do what you do and that the ultimate goal is not to succeed or earn a lot of money, nor to meet famous people and appear in magazines (which many people associate with fashion) but to get a job that you like and not only be your means of living but something to enjoy and also allow you to live in a simple way, with free time, giving attention to friends, family etc...
IN FAVOR OF VERNACULAR KNOWLEDGE We like to learn from artisans, apply the knowledge of centuries of sewing in our garments and designs. Working with women who hand-knit our sweaters or embroider a garment, people who weave cloth on old looms, print by hand, etc. Sometimes so much technology makes us forget that there are very effective and low-polluting ways of working.
AGAINST LABOR EXPLOITATION We do not want to work taking advantage of inequalities, we do not want to have large profits at the expense of the exploitation of other people, we want to pay fair salaries for jobs well done and for that we work with local workshops in Spain and Portugal, we buy fabrics from Salamanca or fair trade in Nepal etc... It is very important for us to do things well and feel that we do not betray our ideas, we also support small businesses in our environment.
STAYING SMALL We currently have about 80 points of sale and we are three people in “Wendy's little house”, plus our salespeople and workshops who work on their own. For us, staying small is one of our biggest challenges. While many companies want to grow and become very big, we want to be small, so we can continue to be happy working and our design will not be conditioned to sale (that is, we will not design super-commercial things to be able to pay many salaries, rents, etc... but we will do special and unique things to enjoy and transmit ideas). Furthermore, this allows us to be much more sustainable and ecological since we manufacture few and durable things, we waste little, we work locally, etc.
